Quorotto vs Wix, Squarespace, Shopify or an agency.

Choose Wix or Squarespace if you have the time to build a simple site yourself, Shopify if you mainly sell products, an agency for a large custom build you want to own, and Quorotto if you want a custom site built for you with booking or ordering, payments, invoices and a dashboard, for a monthly fee with no lock-in.

An honest comparison for Australian small businesses. Prices checked October 2026.

When each one is the right choice.

Choose Wix when

You want to build it yourself, like having lots of templates and features to pick from, and want payments and scheduling without hiring anyone. Plans from A$21 a month, billed yearly.

Choose Squarespace when

You want a clean, design-led site you can build yourself, such as a portfolio, a studio or a simple service business, and you're happy to add Scheduling if you take bookings.

Choose Shopify when

Selling products is the business: a big catalogue, shipping across Australia, and in-person sales through Shopify's point of sale. It's built for retail first.

Choose an agency when

You need a large or complex site, a full brand project, custom integrations with other systems, or you want to own custom code outright, and you have the budget for it.

Choose Quorotto when

You want a custom site built for you, with booking or ordering, payments, invoices and a dashboard working together, website updates done for you, and a monthly price with no lock-in.

Skip Quorotto when

You only need a brochure site and enjoy building it, you run a big online store, or you need to own the software. We'd rather tell you that on a call than sell you the wrong thing.

The cost nobody quotes.

DIY builders are cheapest on paper because you supply the labour: choosing a template, writing every page, sorting photos, connecting payments and booking, and keeping it all up to date. For some owners that's a good weekend project. For others it's the reason the website never gets finished.

An agency takes the work off you but charges for every hour of it, upfront and usually again for changes. Quorotto sits between the two: we build it, we make your website updates (included on Busy and Flat Out), and the monthly fee covers hosting and support.

Comparison questions.

Which is better for a small business, Wix or Squarespace?

Both are good DIY builders. Wix has more templates and features to choose from, with payments and scheduling on its Core plan and up. Squarespace is known for clean, design-led templates and includes free invoicing on every plan, with online booking as a paid Scheduling add-on. Try both free and pick the editor you prefer.

Is Shopify only for online stores?

Shopify is built for selling products, online and in person. If you mainly sell services or take bookings, a builder or a custom site with booking built in is usually a better fit.

When should I use an agency instead?

Use an agency for a large or complex site, a full brand project, custom integrations, or when you want to own the custom code outright and have the budget for it.

When is Quorotto not the right choice?

If you only need a simple brochure site and enjoy building it yourself, a DIY builder is cheaper. If you sell hundreds of products and ship nationwide, Shopify is built for that. If you need to own custom software outright, an agency build suits you better.

Can I move from Wix or Squarespace to Quorotto?

Yes. We build your new site from scratch around how your business runs. If you already have a site, we'll look at it and tell you straight what's worth keeping.

Is there a lock-in with Quorotto?

No. It's month to month and you can cancel anytime. If you leave, you keep your domain name and your content: your words, your photos and your customer data.
